ESC Committee for Practice Guidelines – be part of the upcoming 2015 Guidelines review process!

Zamoranu.

Srdačan pozdrav,

Prof. dr. med. sci. Zumeta Kušljugić

Dear National Cardiac Society President,

Dear National Cardiac Society Secretary,

Dear ESC Guidelines Coordinator,

Our new review process aiming at increasing diversity of reviews and global readability of the Guidelines is now well in place and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support.

As mentioned by Prof. Jose Luis Zamorano, Chairperson of the ESC Committee for Practice Guidelines (CPG), during the NCS Presidents’ Meeting during the ESC Congress 2014 in Barcelona, we are pleased to involve ALL National Societies in the reviewing of ALL 2015 ESC Guidelines again this year.

You will find more details on the review process in the attached slides.

The CPG is therefore calling upon ALL National Cardiac Societies to nominate ONE reviewer, expert in the field, for EACH of the below-mentioned 2015 ESC Guidelines:

ESC Guidelines for the management of acute coronary syndromes in patients presenting without persistent st-segment elevation
ESC Guidelines on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infective endocarditis
ESC/ERS Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension
ESC Guidelines for the management of patients with ventricular arrhythmias and the prevention of sudden cardiac death
ESC Guidelines on the diagnosis and management of pericardial diseases
As agreed in Barcelona (see attached slides) and to keep the manageability and a good quality of review, the CPG is asking the National Cardiac Societies’ reviewers to focus specifically on reviewing Grade I and III recommendations.

The National Cardiac Societies’ reviewers having been involved in the review process will be listed in the document in an Appendix in order to acknowledge their time and effort. They will be indexed in PubMed.

Please send us the name and full contact details of your selected reviewer for each of the above-mentioned Guidelines: ONE name per Guidelines, by Monday 3 November 2014. Beyond this date the reviewers’ lists will be closed.

We thank you in advance for your support in these official peer reviews and look forward to hearing back from you.

With my best personal regards,

Professor Jose Luis Zamorano

Chairperson of the ESC Committee for Practice Guidelines 2014-2016
